Duolingo which was once a free language learning service has now started its language certification program digitally.
The English Proficiency Exam assesses a candidate’s proficiency of the language where they can take the exam on their personal computers anywhere anytime. Like conventional language proficiency exams, Duolingo also tests four major skills- Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
The test is adaptive in nature. The difficulty level of the test increases when the candidate answers correctly and the next question becomes easier if the answer is wrong.

It also has an upgraded section where candidates can take a video interview of 10 minutes and record their answers to open-ended questions.

Test duration
The total test lasts for 1 hour. The skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking are assessed with an adaptive test of 45 minutes. It is then followed by a video interview of 10 minutes which is used to record the answers of open-ended questions,
Test score
The proficiency of the candidate in the English language is measured on a scale of 10-160. The score is comprehensive and doesn’t come out section-wise. University programs usually require a score of more than 120 as it shows the aspirant’s ability to cope up with academic programs abroad.
